About This Place

Located in the heart of Portland, Oregon, Shalom Y’all offers an invigorating dive into vibrant Mediterranean cuisine with a contemporary twist. This Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar effortlessly blends bold, traditional flavors with modern culinary creativity, making it a must-visit destination for lovers of fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully crafted dishes.

Step inside and you’ll immediately notice the warm yet sophisticated atmosphere; an inviting industrial-chic space punctuated by an open kitchen that allows diners to witness the passionate craftsmanship behind each plate. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between lively and intimate, ideal for anything from casual lunches to special celebrations.

Shalom Y’all’s menu reads like a love letter to Mediterranean culinary heritage, featuring standout dishes that tantalize the senses with their texture, aroma, and depth of flavor. The House Labneh is a true gem—silky, tart, and enriched with roasted cauliflower, mint oil, and nigella seeds, creating a creamy bite that is utterly irresistible. Equally compelling are the Lemon Zest Fries paired with beet ketchup and horseradish yogurt, delivering a perfect marriage of crispy zestiness and a subtle earthy kick.

For those craving heartier fare, the MEC Greek Lamb Chops stand out with a savory, spice-kissed crust and tender, juicy meat that melts on your tongue. The Shakshuka Royale with Feta offers a cozy yet bold flavor profile, its rich tomato base enlivened by silky eggs and salty crumbles of feta. The Sababa Salad is a refreshing contrast, refreshing and textured with crisp vegetables and a bright dressing, embodying the freshness of a Mediterranean garden.

Vegetarian options such as the Roasted Eggplant drenched in smoked olive oil and paired with minty labneh and warm pita bread showcase Shalom Y’all’s ability to elevate plant-based dishes to extraordinary levels. Not to be overlooked are the indulgent dessert options like the Chocolate Brownie and the intriguingly spiced Spiced Pumpkin with Labneh Sorbet, both providing a satisfying finish to the food journey.

The drink program here is equally impressive, championing clever and refreshing cocktails as well as an excellent selection of wines to take home—the 2024 Quinta Do Ermízio, for instance, is a crisp, lightly spritzy wine that perfectly complements the boldness of the cuisine.

What truly sets Shalom Y’all apart, beyond its imaginative menu and inviting setting, is the attentive and thoughtful service. As one celebratory guest, Christian Manley, mentioned, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate dietary restrictions with separate menus tailored for gluten-free and dairy-free diners—an example of the care that elevates the overall dining experience.

Many diners, from the enthusiastic Rosie Hutchison savoring the unforgettable hummus to Mary Gilbert who praised the lively vibe and flavorful share plates paired with expertly crafted drinks, echo the sentiment that Shalom Y’all is a destination that lingers long after the meal ends. For lovers of Mediterranean food, the Turkish baked hummus, dipped in crunchy cucumbers as Ann Wu exquisitely described, becomes not just a dish but a moment to treasure.

In essence, Shalom Y’all doesn’t just serve food—it crafts moments of genuine joy and discovery through its inspired menu, inviting atmosphere, and sincere hospitality. Whether you are craving bold lamb chops, fresh and comforting dips, or innovative cocktails, this Portland gem promises a Mediterranean feast that touches the heart as much as the palate.

My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary here. She is celiac and I am dairy free. The host brought us two separate menus with the items marked with what we could and couldn’t eat. Overall, great service, great experience and spectacular food.

Was excited to come to Shalom Y’all having been to both MEC and Yalla already. I had high hopes, and while we enjoyed our dinner there were definitely some areas of the evening that were a bit underwhelming. I’ll start with the atmosphere, which is quite nice and elegant with an open kitchen in the back and low lit industrial style space. It’s quaint and lively. A bit tucked away but overall a nice vibe. The service started strong but tapered off as the meal progressed. Largely it was around how they serve the dishes which is family style but also very sporadic. We ordered fries for the table which the waiter confirmed with me about half way through, and then didn’t bring till we had finished almost every other dish. It felt like they either forgot or just timed things poorly. The food was largely good except for the steak unfortunately, which also happened to be the most expensive dish. The dish itself was flat out cold, which for steak if that’s intended should be mentioned. Even if it is sitting on something cold I would expect the meat to be warm. The chicken gyro dish while flavorful was definitely hard to cut and serve family style which I think they would consider more heavily. It was just a bit underwhelming as a whole which was disappointing as I’ve enjoyed all my meals at their sister restaurants.

You know those meals that make you think of them for weeks after? That’s this. Thou must order the hummus, and the coffee for dessert. I won’t waste your time or mine writing a review of length, it doesn’t need it. You must go and experience for yourself.

Super hip vibe and tasty drinks and share plates! The service was friendly and fun. Had the pleasure of dining here while visiting Portland for a real estate mastermind with top real estate agents from across the U.S. The bartender was friendly and humorous! I had the Base Tan drink with Mezcal and super delish. Their bar menu is fantastic! Everything we shared was full of flavor and fresh. Definitely worth the visit!

As a Mediterranean food seeker and lover, I got to say this place was a solid 5/5! Turkish baked hummus: creative and unique dish. Flavor was so cozy with the addition of butter and za'atar. Definitely my favorite dish of the meal. I loved this dish dipped with cucumbers as opposed to pita bread, because of the crunchy texture and the refreshing component. Fried eggplant spears: this dish had the least "wow" factor for me. The spread itself tasted amazing with a spicy kick, and the fried eggplant tasted great by itself, although could be a bit more crispy. However, I didn't love the combination of the two, as the spread was a bit overpowering. Lamb carnitas: meat was cooked ranging from tender to crispy. Flavor profile was subtle yet vibrant, and complemented very well with the meat. Service and atmosphere were wonderful. Will definitely recommend!

I came here for brunch with a reservation and had a really nice experience. The staff recommended bar seating, and honestly, it’s not a bad idea at all — great spot to sit and enjoy the food. The hummus plate was solid, the pickle bowl was tasty enough, and I tried the Persian omelette, which was unique and not bad at all. Everything had fresh flavors, and I appreciated the Middle Eastern twist on brunch. Overall, Shalom Y’all has a welcoming vibe, good service, and a fun brunch menu. I’d definitely come back to try a few more dishes next time!

Everything we ordered was flavorful and beautifully presented. My personal favorite is Shalom Y'all plate. The other two dishes we ordered: the chicken Kebab and chicken shawarma were also delicious. My favorite cocktail is the Sassy Pants. But all the other drinks were good too! Will be back next time we visit Portland!
